Here at PI-21, we live by these bits of wisdom. We focus our clients on determining where they really want to go and not just on chasing a rating or registration. We believe that it is important to focus on improving the performance of the business through the incorporation of existing business practices with industry best practices. 

In order to accomplish this, it is important to set true business objectives for the process improvement program instead of setting the sights on just the rating or registration. Once the business goals are set for true performance improvements, it is critical to determine where the existing business practices are against those goals. This allows the organization to start with a clear picture of where they are and then set the steps in motion to achieve the performance improvements in a realistic timeframe.
